# How it works

> Pick an asset, see what could move it, hold the cover.

Offset works in three steps.

### 1. Pick an asset

Go to [useoffset.xyz](https://useoffset.xyz) and pick any Hyperliquid perp, crypto
or a stock. Or connect your wallet (or peek at any address) to start from the
positions you already hold.

### 2. See what could move it

Offset asks one question: what could move it? Say whether you are long or short,
and it shows the prediction markets that put that side at risk, pulled live from
Polymarket and ranked so the ones that matter come first.

You will see cards like:

* "Bitcoin dips to \$25,000" for a BTC long
* "MicroStrategy gets margin called" for an MSTR long

Each card shows the live odds and what it costs to hold the cover.

### 3. Hold the cover

Tap a card to open the market on the venue. If the bad thing happens, the market
pays out, and that payout offsets the hit to your position. That is the hedge.

### How it picks the right markets

Behind the scenes, Offset runs every market through an LLM that reads each outcome,
works out which way it moves the asset, and keeps only the ones that genuinely
hedge your side. For stocks it also pulls the sector the asset moves with and the
macro that hits everything, so you see risks you might not connect yourself.
